Hearing and knowing the voice of God

How to discern the voice of God from the enemy's

There are many voices clamoring for our attention. There is the voice of the enemy, the world's voice, our voice, and then, there is God's voice. How can you know and hear God's voice?

What we need to do is get still in His presence and listen to Him. The Holy Spirit has something to say to us, but are we willing to listen to Him and not only talk to Him. We can also hear God speak to us through the Bible. God will speak throughout the pages of scripture. God can speak in many different ways. He will get your attention if He has something to say to you. He is always speaking; it is just up to us to pay attention to what He is saying.

The enemy's voice is condemning. The voice of God is a loving and gentle nudge or whisper. The voice of God may be convicting, but not condemning. The enemy will try to make you feel guilty and shameful for your past and sins. When you truly confess and repent of your sins, you are forgiven, and those sins are forgiven. God will remember your sins no more. He casts your sins in the sea of forgetfulness.

Romans 8:1 says, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

You can ask the Lord if He remembers your sins that you have already confessed and repented of, and He will not remember them because they are already forgiven and forgotten.

1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Hebrews 10:17 says, "17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more."

John 10:27-28 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
